Here Come The Canadians!
2025
Acrylic ink, oil pastel, glitter on Arches 300 lb watercolour paper
24"x30"

Two large heads ( possible TSA Agents ) look on in utter angst as an “Alien” Canadian walks towards them in an airport like environment. The heads are filled with thoughts of these Canadian Aliens arriving en masse or in their minds “invading”.

This piece is dealing with the current US paranoia around immigrants in a satirical way. As a Canadian travelling down to the States has always been a bit bizarre because our cultures are so intertwined and yet you meet people who don’t even know where Canada is. When you have blinders on to the rest of the world and even to your neighbours, it’s easier to believe lies fed to you about them by Fascists and governments who want to control you.

I started this piece last year when threats from the current US governments started being thrown at us and when stories of Canadians being held by ICE for no legal reason started circling the news. The current raids of ICE on immigrants and citizens alike leading to government sanctioned abuse and death is unconscionable.

Made with Acrylic ink, pastel and glitter on Arches 300 lb paper, the institutional greens and blues and the heavy glitter within the heads make up a fantastical nightmare for these Agents.
